Sound Of Contact: : stunning debut music video for first single now also available on YOUTUBE!

Sound of Contact are set to release their debut concept album 'Dimensionaut' on the 20th May 2013, and the band are currently out on tour in Europe as part of the InsideOut Music 20th Anniversary shows with Spock's Beard and Beardfish.
Recently a select few industry members and close friends and family were treated to a screening of the band's fantastic debut music video for 'Not Coming Down', the first single to be taken from Dimensionaut.

That video is now viewable in all its 6 and a half minute glory here:
youtu.be

The band had this to say about the videos concept and its making: "We're excited to be premiering the music video for our single "Not Coming Down" as it is not only the first full song most people will be hearing from our debut album "Dimensionaut" but it is also a significant moment in our concept album's storyline." Says Simon Collins, co-writer/producer, vocalist and drummer for Sound of Contact "Each of the music videos being made for our new album are like an episode in the overall story and this one reveals an event in our character's journey where he hits rock bottom from a state of spiritual poverty. He is faced with the delicate balance of life and this acts as the catalyst for the realization of who he truly is, a Dimensionaut".

"The song is also about a point of no return which can so easily be reached when certain lines are crossed. Radical life changes can happen in any given moment to anyone. We sometimes forget how fragile we are." - Dave Kerzner, co-writer/producer and keyboardist for Sound of Contact.

In the video, Simon Collins, son of Phil Collins, is on vocals and drums, Dave Kerzner is on keyboards, Matt Dorsey on bass and joining them for the video is touring guitarist John Wesley (Porcupine Tree, Fish). They are accompanied by a string quintet. Collins also plays the character "Dimensionaut" in the video who is continually trying to escape who he really is. Actress Michelle Martinez plays his love interest and is faced with difficult challenges witnessing the resistance he has to his highly unusual life as well as a strange flying object that begins hovering above him as his condition deteriorates. She does her best to save him from his ultimate climactic moment of transformation.
The brainchild of Simon Collins and keyboardist/co-producer Dave Kerzner, Sound of Contact marks the beginning of something that Collins had always wanted to put his hand to after ten years of promoting his own solo career. With the help of Kerzner as well as Matt Dorsey, Kelly Nordstrom and Hannah Stobart (Wishing Tree) and with an album mixed by Nick Davis (Genesis, XTC, Marillion), this vision has come to fruition.
To give everyone a first impression of what to expect from the album, the band put together a teaser video with snippets of each song.
You can check it out here - www.youtube.com

Sound Of Contact: : reveals stunning debut music video for first single ONot Coming Down¹

That video is now viewable in all its 6 and a half minute glory here, presented by PROG (UK):

www.progrockmag.com/video/

The Tangent: : announce release of seventh studio album Le Sacre Du Travail

On the 24th June 2013, InsideOut Music is set to release the seventh studio album by The Tangent entitled Le Sacre Du Travail (The Rite Of Work). The album is the group's first fully blown "concept album" but band-leader Andy Tillison is keen to point out that this concept is something that involves all of us now rather than a rambling fiction.

Formed from a single hour long piece of music in 5 movements and referred to by the band as "An Electric Sinfonia" based around a working day of a typical Western-world citizen, the album has a very personal feel. It's highly orchestral and 20th century classical in tone, very much inspired by Stravinsky's The Rite Of Spring. Described by INSIDEOUT CEO Thomas Waber as "A very mature album" with "Stellar Musicianship" - this album sees the lineup of The Tangent revert to an earlier formation, Andy Tillison (composer/keyboards/singer) again bringing on board Jonas Reingold on bass (The Flower Kings, Karmakanic), Jakko M Jakszyk on guitar & vocals (King Crimson, Level 42), Theo Travis on wind instruments (Soft Machine, Steve Wilson Band) with the new additions of Gavin Harrison on drums (Porcupine Tree) & David Longdon on vocal harmonies (Big Big Train). In addition there are cameo appearances by Rikard Sjoblom (Beardfish) and Guy Manning amongst others.

Look out for more information on the album in the coming weeks!

Spock's Beard's new studio album marks the recording debut of long-time live drummer Jimmy Keegan, and vocalist / guitarist Ted Leonard (Enchant, Thought Chamber). As mentioned previously it also sees the return of one familiar name to the song-writing credits, that of Neal Morse who has co-written two tracks after having left the band way back in 2002.

To celebrate InsideOut's 20th anniversary and the release of their newest album "Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep", Spock's Beard will do a tour with Swedish Prog quartet Beardfish and Sound of Contact, the new band featuring Simon Collins, Dave Kerzner and John Wesley. Beginning May 2nd in Verviers, Belgium and rounding up on May 19th in Hamburg, Germany.

Bassist Dave Meros said: "We'll play a 50/50 mix of old and new. We're doing most of the main disc of the new album. But we're not doing Treasure Abandoned, so that might be a surprise."

The Safety Fire: : reveal first studio diary for forthcoming second album

It was recently announced that London-based progressive metallers The Safety Fire had entered the studio to begin recording their forthcoming second album, and the band have revealed the first in a series of studio diaries documenting that process.

First up are the drums which were tracked at Middle Farm Studios in Devon. Guitarist and producer Derya 'Dez' Nagle had this to say about their time in the studio:
"Calvin hit the drums a lot. We were all very impressed by how much and how well he hit the drums. He was very humble about the whole thing, but there was an overwhelming feeling that we all witnessed something very special. It was the start of a new movement, the humblist was born."

You can see video evidence of Calvin hitting the drums a lot here - youtu.be

It was also recently revealed that The Safety Fire would be appearing on BBC quiz show Eggheads, hosted by Jeremy Vine. While the episode won't be airing till later this year, the band has posted the audition tape which they shot in order to take part. You can check that out here: youtu.be

The bands currently untitled new release is being produced again by the band's own Derya "Dez" Nagle (guitar), who previously worked with Frank Turner (MONGOL HORDE), RISE TO REMAIN, and THE HAARP MACHINE.

Jolly: : release second music video from "The Audio Guide to Happiness (Part 2)"

Since the release of Jolly's latest work "The Audio Guide To happiness (Part 2)", the band has managed to film and edit its second music video for the song "Firewell", and almost simultaneously complete a highly successful 16 date tour across Europe with label-mates Riverside.

In this new video, the band can be seen playing their instruments in a performance style piece, dressed down in black suits, having fun doing what they do best....playing great music. (And even a little Karate).

Just before the release of the album and tour with Riverside, Hurricane Sandy swept through the northeast United States destroyed the bands rehearsal space, studio and drummer Louis Abramson's home. Left with no instruments and no funding to replace everything on their own, the band turned to their fan base as a last ditch effort to continue, and in turn received an overwhelming amount of support from their fans. Allowing them to complete the album, replace their instruments and go on tour. Their resilience is a testament to why this young band stands out from the pack.

The band commented: "Filmed in the post-hurricane wreckage in our studio, just like the Dust Nation Bleak video. We got a crash course in making the most with what you've got. Luckily we all fit into one suit. Enjoy! JOLLY loves you."

You can view the video for "Firewell" HERE!

Jolly's new album The Audio Guide To Happiness Part. 2 was released on the 4th March, 2013 and the video comes just in time to give the U.S. fans a taste of what to expect on their upcoming North American tour with Riverside starting at the end of April and going into the middle of May. The dates can be found below. JOLLY will be supporting Riverside on the (North American New Generation Tour).
